Allotments

Winter is a great time to build the vision for a successful growing season and to get to know the ground and get some fresh air and exercise too.

It is also the time that the new plans for next year are being implemented, some additional plots will soon be available, creating more capacity and more manageable plot sizes to better fit in with busy lives.

We are seeing more interest in a new approach too, an allotment can be as much for growing flowers and nurturing plants as well as own grown fruit and veg. New growing techniques are also becoming popular, like 'no dig' growing which is ideal for those who do not fancy higher work loads.

It would also be a good idea to register interest sooner rather than later as we usually see a significant increase in interest in the early springtime, just email [email protected] or text/call on 07446987878

Wellow Village Allotments

The Wellow Allotment Gardens

The allotments in Wellow were bequeathed to the people of Wellow and since then generations of local people have grown vegetables, fruit and flowers on the land.

Wellow Parish Council take care of the facilities and administrate all requirements with the support of an allotment committee who are themselves active allotment holders.

In recent years, styles of growing and aspirations of growers has altered to fit with changing appetites, there is a focus on good environmentally aware growing practices that surprisingly owe much to traditional practices which feels in keeping with the history and culture of Wellow itself.

There are a variety of plot sizes available to match different ambitions, for those who seek a quiet community of friends who value nature, tranquillity and healthy produce, then get in touch.
